Functional Medicine is complementary to Herbal Medicine and provides a different framework to diagnose real cause of disease following an individualised, patient centred science-based approach. It relies on a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors and leverages the data to direct personalised treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.

Herbal and Functional Medicine with Nijen Aksel

The initial consultation session takes a minimum of one and a half hours and consists of discussing patients’ background including family history, medical history, lifestyle choices, diet, mood and stressors as well as presenting symptoms and clinical examinations where necessary. Functional testing will be recommended if required. The therapy will focus on recommending lifestyle and diet modifications, supplementation if nutrient deficiencies are identified, and herbal medicine to speed up and focus healing of the root cause of disease. A follow up is required two to three weeks after the initial consultation to review the patient’s progress and adjust the herbal therapy and diet choices as required.

Your prescribed herbal medicine will be ready to collect from Calmblue, the following day.
